SNAPSHOTS WITH TIM LAMPE / NO.3

Welcome to Snapshots! This week we're taking a look at great views/heights and a little more. It's been a busy week and there's a few themed weeks I have coming up, but this week I'm just going to go through some of my favorite captures. SNAPSHOTS WITH TIM LAMPE / NO.1

Happy Friday! This is the start of a new column for Glass & Sable I'm doing called Snapshots. This column will feature a weekly breakdown of 8 memorable images grabbed from Instagram users for the week. You may be familiar with Instagram, the mobile-only photo sharing experience where you can add filters to your photos and embrace community. It's surely one of my favorite things, and hopefully you've had a chance to discover it too. This first week is a hodge podge of ideas, but they revolve around the idea of "big views". In the following weeks you'll see me dive into more specific topics, but let's get started. Each photo should be tagged with the person who took the picture.

You'll find hundreds of Golden Gate Bridge shots on Instagram, whether it's foggy bridge shots or far-away shots, but this one is among my favorites. The composition of this shot is fantastic too.

Nicole's landscapes seem almost unreal but maybe it's because we're not as lucky as her to be experiencing them. As such, we get to live through her captures. This one features a fantastic reflection of the mountains and sky.

Mike attached this image with the comments of a place of tranquility and I couldn't agree more. The asymmetrical composition and blissful colors allow the viewer to relax just by looking at this photo.

Weekend: ASHEVILLE

Happy Monday, friends! I had a lovely weekend, did you? Tim and I took a day trip to Asheville on Saturday. I had never been, and he wanted to take me there. And as our one year anniversary just passed, it was a good reason to take a road trip! We spent a lot of time walking around the city and looking at all the funny, cool, or just downright unusual things. There are so many hippies! I've never seen so many dreadlocks all in one place. It was so beautiful to be surrounded by mountains, I loved it. For our fancy dinner we went to an Indian restaurant called Mela, and it was incredible. I had Chicken Tikka Masala and Tim had the Saag Paneer. Yum! But sad news, we left the leftovers in Asheville. I kick myself every time I think about it. But, besides that, the trip was perfect. We stopped a lot of detours and shops on the way back, including the Smoky Mountain Parkway with a breathtaking ridge view of the mountains. The next few months will have similar mini trips to other places. May is a trip to Florida to see my parents for their 25th anniversary, and June is a trip to St. Louis to see Tim's family (and the Cardinals).

Does this summer have an promising destinations for you?

HOLIDAY PHOTOS

To break some of the silence, I thought I'd say hi and give you a little photo update on the last week or so. They is the precious Zooey. See I told you there would be more pictures of her! That is also the packages I made and the new Minnetonka shoes that Tim got me. I love them so much! I don't ever want to take them off!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful holiday break as well! It may seem as though my break is a lounging time, but I am still hustling! Just getting ready for the new year!

BLOGSHOP, YES

Hey there folks! If you follow me on instagram, you know that I was at Blogshop yesterday. I heard that a few of you wanted to hear about it, so listen in!

First off, I was not a student of the class and did not attend the entire length of the course. This specific course was three days and geared towards photographers. The first two days consisted of photo training, tips, and a photo shoot. I came for the third day when Angela and Bri arrived and taught the students how to use Photoshop to edit their photos. I was an assistant and helped the students when they had questions during the class.

I have been following Bri's blog, designlovefest for about a year now and that's how I found out about Blogshop. I like her energy and her design style and liked the ideas behind teaching others how to blog and use photoshop. I wanted to make sure that my growing appreciation and support for Blogshop was well deserved. So I invested myself into it and found that it is, truly, a wonderful thing. Now's here's the best part - my experience at Blogshop, even though it was only one day, was more fullfilling than I ever expected. Being around all those photographers and seeing their passion for design and creativity was the most inspiring. I had a wonderful time getting to know the students and meeting the ladies and the photographers running the course.

So all in all, it was a success and I really enjoyed myself. I am so glad that Atlanta is getting on the map for creative things. Next up, Creative Mornings here on December 9th for round 3 with Tina Roth Eisenberg in attendance! Yay!

ampersand

I am so sorry that I have been a missing person! It's true, I've really slacked off. I acknowledge it! I take the blame for it! So what was I doing? Honestly, it's kind of pathetic. I was upgrading my jailbroken iPhone to the new ios 5. I ran into a couple of errors and kept having to do the jailbreak over and over and over. Blah. But I'm back! (and for good!)

The photo above was taken by Tim, but it's of the new ampersand I bought! It was made by Edie's Lab, found on Etsy. They make a ton of these beautiful wooden letters. Gosh I love them all! Needless to say, I'm very please with the newest addition.

We've been all sorts of busy. We saw Wild Flag on Saturday night in Athens at the 40 Watt Club. If you don't know who Wild Flag is, you might know who Carrie Brownstein is - the lead lady of the comedy show Portlandia. She's one of the singers/guitarists for Wild Flag. They rocked out! It was a glorious show. Amazing girl rock at its finest. Totally check them out.

Btw, I'm gushing over all the love around here on Glass and Sable. You folks are so nice! ♥
