BIRTHDAY WISHES

wishlist1wishlist2

Well my birthday is this week so I thought I'd put together a birthday wishlist of sorts, though I have no expectations of anyone getting me these things. haha. These are just some things I've been eyeing for a little while that I'll probably save for. I don't ever ask for gifts and if people even ask what I'd like, I have no idea what to say. I can't imagine people spending money on my birthday. I'm more into sharing experiences, like going to my favorite restaurant with my friends. That's good enough for me! But for all you libras out there, you might want to keep this for your list too!

Glass and Sable Snippets Typographic Mindset Mark Niemeijer Pour Porter Folkloric Maggie Building block dice bag Still Life

1. These gorgeous images on Folkloric.

2. Love this poster work by dutch designer, Mark Niemeijer. I pretty much love all things woven - especially if it is type.

3. I also love neon light work. Wish I knew who made it. Even the internet seems to not know. :(

4. Recently discovered Pour Porter and have been drooling over all the amazing things they carry in their online shop. Those folks sure know how to curate a terrific collection of goods. I've been really drawn to bucket bags lately, so naturally this black leather one caught my eye.

Today marks the end of my second week since school started. I forgot what it feels like to be mentally exhausted. I'm not at all acclimated to school yet, so please bear with me as I get a better handle on how to arrange my time so that I can still blog too. I don't think I'll be able to post as much as I did before, but I don't plan to let this baby run dry. I actually have a new column coming up soon, so stay tuned! If you follow me on instagram, you already got a little hint!

I'll be putting up September's calendar some time this weekend, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

xMOTHERx

mother Emilie Norton Barnett Yokoo Gibraan

My beautiful friend, Emilie modeled some new dresses for xMotherx. If you're not familiar with xMotherx, it's the clothing line operated by Yokoo Gibraan, the very talented knitter! I've always loved her gorgeous chunky scarves and summer necklaces, so this line has certainly grabbed my attention. It's great to see such talented ladies here in the south.

Emilie also started a new company with her sister, Sara Bess, called Lemonade Yard Sale. They specialize in selling organic and eco-conscious clothing made by local artisans and designers.

Home //
Growing up, my Mother always had an altar of sorts dedicated to family pictures, found objects, artifacts collected along the way and other various items. I began creating my own not too long ago. It’s like a scrapbook only better. Instead of hiding your most cherished things inside the pages of a bound book that only collects dust on the shelf, you leave them on display as a delightful reminder.

Glass and Sable Amy Tremper Stitch and Hammer closet watch antique watch

Closet //
The watch was given to my great-grandmother as a gift by my great-grandfather. Because they were not engaged at the time, she was not allowed to receive it. It would have been taboo back in the late 20s to accept a gift of that quality when not betrothed. When the two were finally engaged she was able to wear it. Her initials are engraved on the back plate of the watch. My grandmother gave it to me as a gift and have cherished it ever since.

Glass and Sable Amy Tremper Stitch and Hammer tool leather tooling work tray

Tool //
Work Trays, I can't live without them! I use them for everything, separating hardware during heavy production days and tools. I'm always on the lookout for new ones. The silver tray was a great find, practically a steal at the Alameda flea and the white ceramic plates are from a local ceramicist.

Glass and Sable Snippets Jessica Hische Amanda Jane Jones Baggu Creatures of Comfort Shop Coclico

1. The internet has been all a buzz with Jessica Hische and Russ Maschmeyer's sensational wedding invitation. Incredible web design, gorgeous collaborative illustrations, and a great love story. I even teared up. This is a must see if you haven't seen it already.

2. Amanda Jane Jones is a graphic designer (you might know her from Kinfolk Magazine) who recently moved to Geneva with her husband, Cree. Her instagram pictures are breathtaking. I want to live in every single one.

3. Creatures of Comfort is selling these already adorable Baggu pouches with extra charm. I already have a small tan pouch, but I'm so drawn to that cute little face.

4. I am lusting on all of the shoes by Coclico. It was so incredibly hard to share just one in this post.

PALOMARIE

Palomarie jewelry rings

If you've been paying attention to some of the outfit roundups I've been doing in the last few months, you'll know that I've been lusting over Palomarie's rings for some time now. I love rings, and I'd wear more if only my fingers weren't on the chubby side. Even when I was super thin in high school I still had little log fingers - you know, short and stubby! So finding beautiful rings is only the first part - I need to find my size.

When I came across Palomarie, I knew I couldn't just pass them over. The rings were just my taste. So I emailed them and they said they would make my size - just for me! I love my ring to pieces. Besides being a custom made ring (for $50!), the quality and style in person is fantastic. They also have bracelets and necklaces that are to die for. Definitely check them out and let me know if you're a Palomarie owner too!

Glass and Sable Snippets Andrew Gallo Carissa Gallo Parker Fitzgerald Kinfolk Terrain Jennifer Hagler Design Sponge Kindah

1. Kinfolk had another gorgeous dinner, this time at Terrain. Parker Fitzgerald took photographs of the event and took some especially beautiful images of some of my favorites, Andrew and Carissa Gallo.

2. Loving this little clutch from Kindah.

3. Jennifer Hagler's home was featured on Design Sponge this week. I was already drooling at all her peaks via instagram, but this feature really confirmed my admiration of her gorgeous home.

Glass and Sable Snippets Ben Blood Jennifer Young Rebecca Minkoff sandals matcstic Alana Dy Love Aesthetic Beltline Bike Shop

1. Matchstic Branding Agency finished one of their projects, Beltline Bike Shop. My dear friend, Alana Dy, was the primary designer and she did one hell of a job! You go get em, Alana! I'm like a freaking mama bear.

2. Not only do I love the two toned nails by Love Aesthetic, but I'm loving the ring too. She got it from the hardware store! Um, genius, I tell you.

3. Jennifer Young looks so beautiful with her beau in these photos by Ben Blood. And that scarf is a knockout!

4. These sandals win.

Have a great weekend, friends! I'll be buying some leather, doing some code, and relaxing. Oh yeah, and get ready for next week - black and white week on the blog. woohoo.

Guest Post: SUMMER PALOOZA

guestpost

Happy Friday! It's an exciting Friday for me because I did my first guest post for Breanna Rose, an amazing, talented designer and co-owner of Our Paper Shop. She went on vacation, so I offered to share a summer playlist, Summer Palooza, and an outfit to match.

See the post here!

Glass and Sable friday snippets life of julia en pointe

1. Filly Designs has a beautiful Spring 2012 line, including a delectable lookbook.

2. You can always count on Obama's design team to have stunning work for his campaign. They never disappoint. The Life of Julia is not only an example of fine design craftsmanship, but it explains the differences a woman's life will experience with Obama in office vs. Mitt Romney.

3. En Pointe is a short film documenting ballerinas and their process to break in their pointe shoes. I never knew how much actually went into breaking in their shoes. I also learned later that their shoes can only be worn once after all the tear and breaking of the shoe just so they can wear it. Can you imagine wearing a new pair of shoes everyday?

4. There has been a new wind sweeping the blogger prairies called "Things I'm Afraid To Tell You". It was originally started by Jess Constable as a way to be more honest with her readers. Then Ez turned it into a viral campaign, challenging herself and others to address the transparency, fear, and anxiety that sometimes comes with being the blogger behind the curtain. Several bloggers have participated and it is really wonderful to see the honestly floating around. I have to agree, it is easy to be concealed behind beautiful images. It's so much easier to put up something attractive than talk about a bad day. I don't always want to talk about it - this space is my happy place, and also, I don't like being overly personal here. But I will say this: I don't live as glamorously as some of the photos I post. But I do live an exciting life in a beautiful, charming city. I am not always cheerful, but I am happy and I am grateful for what I do have.

I hope all of you have a great weekend!

On The Look Out

Glass and Sable tote handbag Proud Mary polka dot fabric patternGlass and Sable tote handbag Proud Mary polka dot fabric pattern

So I'm looking for a tote bag these days. It's concert season and it's also almost summer - which means I'm going to be outdoors walking and standing a lot more than I did in the winter. That also means I need something a little bit different and possibly BRIGHT! to add to my wardrobe. My dream tote bag is actually #4, but sadly, I just can't spend that much, realistically. So the other top contesters are #2 and #8. I'm really looking for a rounded bottom tote with leather handles for durability. Which one do you like?

As a side note, the more I blog these little roundups of things that have been on my mind, the more I realize that I shop in a compartmentalized way. Let me explain that. I often see other bloggers doing roundups based on an idea or a mood. I love that! But honestly, I hunt the internet for certain things - not by color, but by specifically. Hense the reason I am posting all on tote bags with leather handles. And it also reflects the way I use Pinterest. One week it is ceramic pots, another it is tropical plants, and this week it could be tote bags. Is anyone else out there like that? ha.

ANNA MALMBERG

malmberg

No Snippets today, as I was not keeping track with much of anything this week. Though I did want to share this gem. Gorgeous photography by Anna Malmberg for Mes Dames as found in the #026 issue of N.E.E.T. Magazine. This entire collection of photos are absolutely beautiful. I want to live in that rosey colored world. Don't you?

STUCK LIKE GLUE

If I were a cartoon character set in a cartoon that only took place in the winter time, this is what would be on every hanger in my closet. I was looking for the perfect chambray shirt for a while and now that I have it, I have a serious internal battle to not wear it every day. This outfit, of course, isn't what I wear everyday but I wish I could. It is comfortable, flexible, and definitely urban. I can go to work without the hat and then smack it on right before the concert. The brass earrings and the satchel are just enough glam to get me by, as well as the sparkly nail polish. Just style my hair and makeup, and I'm ready!

What's your go to outfit?

Whoa! Some neat stuff is coming to Target. I am definitely excited about browsing this collection. Not all of it is my style exactly, but I think there are a lot of great parts. Some of those blouses and skirts could definitely find a home in my closet. The sweet feminine details are really lovely. I can predict crazy Target lines for this collection. What do you think? See the whole line here.

(For you men out there - sorry for all the pink lately! ♥)

Have you seen the Urban Outfitters Spring Preview yet? It is amazing! Already excited about all those awesome shoes! (though to be honest, I'm still more excited about the winter among us - I love cold weather.)

HOLIDAY PHOTOS

holidays

To break some of the silence, I thought I'd say hi and give you a little photo update on the last week or so. They is the precious Zooey. See I told you there would be more pictures of her! That is also the packages I made and the new Minnetonka shoes that Tim got me. I love them so much! I don't ever want to take them off!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful holiday break as well! It may seem as though my break is a lounging time, but I am still hustling! Just getting ready for the new year!

80%20

SHOES

I’m not sure if any of you subscribe to Gilt, but it’s one of those deal websites that connect you with sweet bargains. If it weren’t for Gilt, I wouldn’t have found out about 80%20 shoes so soon. These are awesome shoes and I’m a quick fan. You can find them all over the place online, like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. Just thought I’d share the find.

P.S. Christmas is almost here! Can’t wait! I hope you all had a good weekend too. I spent a lot of time relaxing, Christmas partying, and petting my new two kitties, Zooey and Fran. Pictures of them soon!

SISTER SISTER

katie

I spend the majority of last weekend with Tim's family for Thanksgiving. Tim's sister, Katie, and her boyfriend, Andrew, live in New Jersey and work in New York City. She is a Creative Merchandiser for Urban Outfitters and has amazing style. I guess it helps when you work for Urban, right? So naturally, every time I saw her in a new outfit my jaw was on the floor. So I thought I'd share with all of you some Katie highlights. Besides all the clothes, she wore MAC Rich Ground Fluidline which is to die for. It was interesting seeing her pairings, as I found I was loving them all, but might not have paired them for myself. I love new ideas. Also, that picture doesn't give the poncho justice. It was a real looker in person.

A beautiful line by Baum Und Pferdgarten. I am in love with the shapes of these tailored blouses and dresses. The color palate is dreamy and reminiscent of the cosmos.
