BIRTHDAY WISHES

Well my birthday is this week so I thought I'd put together a birthday wishlist of sorts, though I have no expectations of anyone getting me these things. haha. These are just some things I've been eyeing for a little while that I'll probably save for. I don't ever ask for gifts and if people even ask what I'd like, I have no idea what to say. I can't imagine people spending money on my birthday. I'm more into sharing experiences, like going to my favorite restaurant with my friends. That's good enough for me! But for all you libras out there, you might want to keep this for your list too!

Sarah Greenberg is the Oakland, California designer and metalsmith behind the nature inspired jewelry collection Sarah Swell. She lives in a 1920's Spanish style bungalow with her soon to be husband, Scott, who is a boat captain on the San Francisco Bay. They hope to someday find the time to restore their little casita to its former glory. When not working long, hard hours in the studio, Sarah enjoys hiking with her dog, good food and more good food.

I love the combination of my watery blue walls with the black tile and white wood of the fireplace, it reminds me of New England where I grew up. I use it as a place to showcase all of my favorite things like my sculptural faux wood grain mirror, bull horns and an ever rotating array of artwork.



Closet // Summer Hat
I'm a hat person and I have ammased quite a collection. This straw hat crafted in Columbia is my most recent find from an antique store in Vermont.



Tool // Hammers
I also collect hammers and other vintage tools. I do actually use them for making jewelry, but I'm also just a girl that likes her heavy, antique tools.

PALOMARIE

If you've been paying attention to some of the outfit roundups I've been doing in the last few months, you'll know that I've been lusting over Palomarie's rings for some time now. I love rings, and I'd wear more if only my fingers weren't on the chubby side. Even when I was super thin in high school I still had little log fingers - you know, short and stubby! So finding beautiful rings is only the first part - I need to find my size.

When I came across Palomarie, I knew I couldn't just pass them over. The rings were just my taste. So I emailed them and they said they would make my size - just for me! I love my ring to pieces. Besides being a custom made ring (for $50!), the quality and style in person is fantastic. They also have bracelets and necklaces that are to die for. Definitely check them out and let me know if you're a Palomarie owner too!

SNIPPETS NO.3

1. I downloaded The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides last night on my Kindle. I've heard a lot of great things about this book, so I'm excited to start reading.

2. Over the weekend I'm planning a visit to this cute bakery, Cakes and Ale. My interest lies mainly to get my hands on a French macaroon. They are so hard to find in Atlanta... or at least I've had some trouble. yeesh.

3. The ladies at Our Paper Shop have done it again! A gorgeous February desktop wallpaper. I usually don't change mine, but this one really pulled on my heart strings. They have two to choose from. Download from here and here.

4. I just bought some earrings from Dinosaur Toes and then found this pretty necklace. Now I'm a serious fan. I love the colors.

5. Bri posted a little DIY on "dipping" cool household objects. I might have to do this. Spray paint is always an easy solution to quick spice ups and fixer uppers.

6. A really neat video montage of all the overhead shots from Wes Anderson films. LOVE IT.

This has been on my mind for some time now. Number 6 has a beautiful line of jewelry, and equally beautiful models and photography. I'm pretty sure most of these one of a kind pieces are already sold, but I'm sure they'll be coming out with new pieces soon. Great retro design.

weekend: indie craft experience

This weekend I did some coverage for BURNAWAY at the Indie Craft Experience. It was really great! There were a ton of vendors all selling some real beauties! That last picture shows the goodies that I got. A bowtie for Tim, a geode necklace for me (both from Maie Dae who makes gorgeous stuff) and that cute foxy letterpress card that I couldn't let go of. Also, Thanks to the girls of Maie Dae for that cute polaroid snapshot. Too cute. Then afterwards while driving around, Tim and I found a small little carnival going on. So we stopped and walked around a bit. It had that real southern/ancient feel to it. I almost felt as if we had gone back in time. Insert all sorts of fuzzy feelings here. ALSO! Dyed my hair > it's more red! yay! Except it's still pretty dark. MUST BE MORE RED! And, I finally got my ban.do silk poof in the mail. Pictures of that soon!

This will be a hella long week, but worth it. I'm going to an awesome wedding on Sunday. It will be the first wedding I go to of a close friend, and of someone close to my age. I guess I'm getting to that age. Weird stuff.

Whoa! It has definitely been too much time since I've shown some love on G&S. This past semester has been crazy, and there's not very much that I can show for it, other than several pictures and The Month Project over at my sister blog, Clear December Days. But to get back with the flow, (especially since it is finally winter break) here's a treat!



Here is the beautiful embroidery of an Etsy seller named Maranon. Absolutely gorgeous work turned into fantastic jewelry. Not only do I want this for Christmas, but I'm sure you know someone who would also! haha. I'm sure by now all of you must know how obsessed I am with triangles. This just makes my desire grow!
