favmovie

Day Twenty-four:
fav movies.
I love these movies. End of story. haha. Well there are plenty more movies that I absolutely love, but I could only put five up. What are your top 5ish movies?

4ladies

Day Twenty-three:
four gorgeous celeb ladies.
If I had to choose some good looking famous ladies, it would definitely be Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon, Zooey Deschanel, & Rachel McAdams.

Not a whole lot of names came to mind for women. A zillion can come to mind of smoking hot men though. :) (maybe another day?)

leaves changing, snow falling.

Day Twenty-two:
changes in past two years.
There are far too many changes to even begin to count. I have only been living in Atlanta for a little over two years, and since the move, I have changed over and over again. Mostly good changes, for better improvement, and sometimes in a nose dive. I don't think I look much different, but my inner self is a much more developed person than I was when I moved here. I was head strong, naive, irrational, unfocused (to a certain extent). I'm still all those things, but to a much smaller degree. I was nervous back then about myself and the future, and I'm not nervous anymore. It's going to all work out in the end.

Would I replay the last two years? Absolutely not.
I'm going in a good direction now.

Day Twenty-one:
fav show:
I love lost. I'm not a big tv watcher to begin with, however. I don't even have cable. But sometime after the fourth season of lost, enough of my friends convinced me that I would love it and that I HAD to watch it. So during the entire fifth season I caught up and was able to watch the last season live. Best decision ever. Yeah, it's a little cheesy sometimes and yeah, it leaves a whole ton of questions unanswered (still!) but hey! I really love it nonetheless. If you're not a fan of lost, you need to get on it!

Day Twenty:
importance of education.
So what do I think about education? Well I think it is one of the most important choices of someone's life. The more education you can get, the better. To achieve as much knowledge about as many things as possible is a great challenge. Personally, being one of the only people in my immediate family to go to college is a great privilege. I'm not planning on going to grad school right away, but I hope to go later on. I just can't afford it right now. Plus, I want to get on with my life. Though just because I'm not in school doesn't mean I'm going to stop "learning". I'm one of the most curious people you will ever meet and I'm always sticking my nose in books and in Wikipedia.

Day Nineteen:
art crush.
Did I ever tell you of my internship with Burnaway.org? Well it is an incredible Atlanta-based online magazine on contemporary art. They have this column called Art Crush and I've always loved it. Mostly, because I have art crushes too. So here's my most recent art crush: Jason Travis a.k.a. J Trav. Here's the Burnaway interview with him. So what's so rad about J Trav? He takes these really awesome dyptiches of local people and the contents of their bags. Pictured above is my friend Victor (who I call names like Victrolium, etc).

So definitely check out the Burnaway article about J Trav! And while you're at it, look at more of his series, Persona

{please note that these photos are not the only kinds of photography that jason does. check out the rest of his flickr and blog for other examples.}

Day Seventeen:
high & lows.
Oh, the high points and the low points of this year; there are many on both sides. I’ve truly had some victories, blessings for sure, but I’ve had many wounding times too. Though all in all, it comes to a breakeven. And I’m happy for even just a breakeven. This has been a year of development and an expansion of my independence.

Highs:
got my dog, Chloe.
learning real dependence on the Lord as a single woman.
seeing the Fitoussi’s on their 3 month trip here in the states.
visiting new parks and places I hadn’t been to before.
working three internships so far this year that have really been awesome.
meeting incredible art people this summer.
getting closer to my parents & best friends.
landing a killer job with much better pay & benefits.

Lows:
several unexpected and expensive events and situations.
taking accounting twice and failing it both times.
my stupid, nonsensical mistakes. Bleh.
and their consequences. More bleh.

But like I said, overall, not a bad year. A lot of growth. New friendships – and the new ones have rocked! And old friendships have grown.

Day Sixteen:
feelings on adulthood.
I don't think I was every ready for the journey of adulthood. It is incredibly hard and tolling. But with one step in front of the other, a positive outlook, and prayer to my Lord, I know that I'll make it alright. :D

Day Fifteen:
fav blogs.
Well, you should have seen this one coming. I sound like such an obsessive adict, but honestly, you just asked the right question. I've mentioned Angela Hardison before, and yeah, I'd have to say she's on my list of top blogs for sure.
I also really love Design*Sponge, Strangely Beautiful Things, and But Does It Float" also. Check them out!

shh! don't tell! i stole angela's photo from angela!

it's a possibility.

washington

Day Fourteen:
place to go:
If I had anyplace to travel too, I would go to Washington State and New Zealand. Some of the most beautiful places on earth, I think. I'm all about the mountains and tall trees. To live? I'm not sure quite yet. I am very much in love with the southern appeal. Atlanta has done some tricks on me, and I am totally bedazzled by Charleston. But no place can beat mountains and trees with sticks. (literally, yes. haha)

hottest year.

Day Thirteen:
my earliest memory.
In the summer of 1993 my parents and I went to Washington D.C. so my dad could attend a training course. Instead of staying at a hotel, we decided to camp in this really nice campground. I remember that whole trip like it was yesterday. Going to D.C., staying in the camper, swimming in the most enormous pool I've ever seen, and having a great time. We have a lot of funny memories from that trip. The pool was very well known and you had to pay money to get in every day. After you paid, they would stamp your hand with a stamp that changed daily with it's according color. We would go in the mornings while my dad was away, and then go back when he came home after his training. But instead of paying again, my mom would draw the stamp on our hands and my dad would get in for free. Haha. Talk about teaching your kids honesty! I love my parents. :D

myclosegirls

Day Nine:
my dearest friends.
These four girls make my life great. I've known them all for roughly two years, though Seanna and I go back to high school. These are all super special ladies and I love them deeply.

Seanna is a doll. Literally. Ha! She's feisty and likes a good, solid adventure. She doesn't let anyone or anything tie her down and she's a shaker. Best day: The Rocket Summer show in St. Pete & the really quick Atlanta tour. :)

Naomi is sweet and blooming into a beautiful woman, inside and out. She's fun and doesn't need a whole ton of money to have a good time. She has a remarkable voice and knows how to lead some serious worship. Best day: Our windy, getaway picnic at Red Top Mountain & our trips downtown. hehe

Stephanie is a deep and happy soul. She loves people and is going to be a great Jewish mother one day. We're going to be sitting in rocking chairs sipping wine when we get old talking about the crazy grandkids. Her passions keep her going. Best Day: French accent? Russian accent? Porters? All the nights we go out, really. There is always good food between us!

Wendy loves words. She loves life and the eccentricities of everything we tend to see as bland. She sees the beauty in people and cares deeply for all the ones she meets. (including me!) Best Day(s): Our first day/night in Statesboro with her brother and Mary & also when I visited Atlanta & we stayed at the Goldberg's.

People I love all the same:
{Sarah G, Elad, Danny F, Judy, Claire, Dustin, Mary, Evan, Mark, Sarah A, Sarah L... and many more!

hide and seek chile.

nate

Day Eight:
first crush.
Hahaha. This topic is hilarious to me. Where to begin? Well recalling on my memories of the journal I had when I was five, the list of boys changed day to day. Though there was only one consistency: Nate Silva. He was a boy with Chilean heritage in my first grade class. Apparently he liked me to, but when the subject came up, he said, "When we are grown ups, I will go to Chile and if you can find me there, then we will get married." Of course our parents were friendly and to this day, on the right occasion, they still tease me about it. Sadly, Nate stopped going to my school after first grade, but he was always around somehow. When I still lived in Florida, I worked as a server at the Ruby Tuesday in the mall near my house. Well, Nate worked at the Apple Store in the same mall. So yeah, I used to run into him here & there. Though since my move to Georgia, I saw him last tow years ago. Funny, aye?

I wish I could appropriately credit Nate's photographer, but since I snatched it from his facebook profile, I can't. :(

bliss o bliss.

satisfied

Day Seven:
when i was most satisfied.
I'd have to say that out of all my memories of great pleasure (with many to choose from) I'd have to choose the time I came to Atlanta as the time I was most satisfied. I came up here for a week to scout it out and see if I wanted to move here. It was by far one of the greatest weeks in my entire life. I was happy, I was a part of so much. There was one afternoon when I sat on the Goldberg's porch and wrote this post. I was so happy to be there. The picture above was taken the night I cooked for the Goldberg's. Not only was I cooking (which was a first) but I was with great company too.

There are other honorable mentions:
+ The day Seanna, Emily and I went and saw The Rocket Summer in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.

+ Camping with my parents and our friends at Fort Desoto Park.

+ And some!

venti.

Day Six:
twenty interesting facts about me.

1. My mom named me after a distant cousin's daughter. She even told the cousin that if she ever had another daughter, she'd name her Ciara... but at that time she was still married with teenage kids. Give her a handful of years later and she's remarried to my dad and naming me Ciara.

2. I took a black widow in a jar to class one day for show & tell in elementary.

3. I also took a snake.

4. I can't breathe well when I run.

5. My hair was a lot lighter when I was little girl.

6. I couldn't say Ciara when I was a young kid. Instead I said, "see-sarah". My family still calls me that as a pet name.

7. I used to name all of my electronics. i.e. Eugene, Winston, etc.

8. My favorite animals are all woodlands animals like deer, foxes, and owls.

9. I used to have two friends that looked like Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.

10. I really want to learn how to fly airplanes.

11. My parents and I used to participate in the Rendezvous of Fronteriesman when I was growing up. It's similar to the Renaissance Festival, only the time period is set to colonial times. I remember wearing bonnets, bloomers, and bathing in rivers. Totally awesome.

12. My bedroom in high school was bright orange.

13. I've survived at least a 6 hurricanes.

14. I've been in 4 car accidents.

15. Someone stole my iphone out of my hand and I chased them & got it back.

16. I learned how to drive at 12.

17. My father began to teach me how to shoot a pistol at 7 years old. (He is a firearms instructor.)

18. My practical dream car is a Honda Fit.

19. If I could have any super power, I'd choose invisibility or freeze time.

20. I've never been to New York City.
